Phillips performs tango regularly both in Seattle and the San Francisco Bay
Area. Recent engagements have included the San Francisco International Style Festival
on Union Square, at restaurants such as the Buenos Aires Grill in Seattle and
Peña Pacha Mama in San Francisco, and in concert shows with orchestras
MonTango, Tango #9, and Trio Garufa. Phillips
has been dancing Argentine Tango and Social Ballroom Dance for over ten years.
In addition to tango, his knowledge includes Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing, Lindy-hop,
Cha Cha Cha, Salsa and Polka. He spent three years as a member of Velocity, a
jazz dance company based in Arcata, California. He has taught all of these dances
at one time both in Northern California, and in Seattle. Phillips
is passionate about the connection two people make when dancing. This has led
him to teach more social styles than the performance-oriented styles of ballroom
dance, taught at most studios today. He teaches a fun and intimate style that
will allow you to hop up to any music, in any venue, for the rest of your life! |
